Where is The Beach House?
The Beach House is located at 70 Shelly Beach Road, East Ballina. We are just 9km from the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport (BNK) and a 30 minute drive from Byron Bay.
The Beach House is a Dry hire venue - What does dry-hire mean?
The term “Dry Hire” means that the client pays for the use of The Beach House venue only. Food, furniture, staffing, audio-visual equipment, decorations and theming need to be organised externally by the client rather than the venue. You might think of it as hiring the space as an empty shell.
The Beach House is a licensed venue - what does this mean?
This means that the venue has a licence to sell alcoholic beverages and the client must select from one of our alcohol packages. BYO is not permitted.
The Beach House is for exclusive hire only - what does this mean?
The Beach House is not open daily to the general public. It can be hired for an event and ancillary to that event the accommodation and other facilities can be used. It does not operate daily like a hotel, café or restaurant. Events might include weddings, reunions, film screenings, product launches, corporate events, memorial services, retreats and much more. The venue can be hired for numerous days ancillary to an event.
Are there limits to the number of people permitted at the venue at any one time?
Yes, the maximum capacity permitted at The Beach House is 250 persons. The Beach House accommodation can sleep up to 28 guests.
What inclusions are there at this venue?
By hiring The Beach House, clients have exclusive use of our two acre property, which includes our Beach Barn, alfresco deck, open aired amphitheatre, expansive lawns, shared amenities and if they choose to hire the accommodation also they can sleep up to 28 guests in our 10 luxurious rooms. Accommodation guests will also have access to our in house bicycles and surfboards, allowing them to make the most of the incredible bike trails and beach breaks on our doorstep.
What exclusions are there at this venue?
The Beach House is a blank canvas that can play host to any style or theme, allowing clients to hire interior and exterior furnishings that appeal to their particular likes and needs. All cutlery, crockery, glassware, table linen, space lighting and sound equipment will need to be hired externally with assistance from the selected event organiser.
Are there Beach House personNEl onsite?
Yes, Sal Richardson and Felipe Gismondi will be your hosts for the duration of your event and stay. They will assist guests with their every need from the point of enquiry to the farewell and in the event of an emergency.
Do guests have access to the commercial kitchen and bar?
No, the bespoke kitchen and bar is to be accessed only by the client's selected catering company staff during the period of hire.
Can I book an individual room?
At The Beach House our accommodation must be hired in its entirety (10 rooms) not as individual rooms. This must be paid for in full at the time of making the venue hire payment. Our beds are 5-star rated for the comfort of our guests.
Do the rooms have ensuite bathrooms?
The rooms do not have ensuite bathrooms. At The Beach House the shared bath house has been beautifully designed to accommodate groups and ensure comfort. Bath towels, beach towels and bath robes are provided and our bathrooms are stocked with the luxurious Sans Ceuticals range.
Is there on-site parking?
The Beach House has very limited on-site parking which is reserved for event staff and key persons for each event. This must be pre-arranged and all other guests MUST be bused to and from the venue. If someone is to miss the bus service they must arrive and depart by taxi or Uber.
Can I use the services of any caterer and event coordinator?
A condition of hire at The Beach House is that clients MUST choose from the list of our preferred partners for catering and event coordination. This enables us to maintain the excellent standards and maximise guest satisfaction.
What are the bump-in and bump-out times for each event?
Times for setting up and packing down on the day of the event will be dependant on the duration of hire and number of guests. The bump-in / bump-out schedule must be agreed upon and approved by The Beach House management no later than 30 days prior to the event.
Are there noise restrictions?
Yes, The Beach House is located in a residential area and strict noise regulations apply. More detail can be found in our Terms & Conditions of hire.
Do hirers require event insurance?
Yes, hirers must provide The Beach House manager a copy of their certificate of currency of public liability insurance, including cover for a minimum of $20 million.
Is Breakfast included?
As The Beach House is a dry-hire venue, breakfast is not included. Guests staying the night will be able to help themselves to our in house coffee and tea selection in our communal living room.
Clients can opt to have their breakfast catered for by one of our preferred partners or they can opt for an off-site breakfast voucher with the local cafe ‘The Belle General’ which is located just down the road (both options must be arranged and confirmed in advance).
Are children of all ages allowed?
The Beach House is a child / family friendly venue. It is vital that children are under adult supervision at all time and each child’s safety is the responsibility of the parents / guardians.
Is there a curfew?
The Beach House has a strict curfew in order to respect their neighbours. All music must be off by 10pm, last drinks will be served by 10.00pm and all guests must be off site by 10.30pm aside from those staying in our accommodation.
What is The Beach House Environmental Trust?
The Beach House aims to provide a platform that creates awareness about marine and coastal ecosystems. Proceeds from every event will go into our Environmental Trust and at the end of each year, funds raised will be awarded to our Beach House Ambassadors and also to individuals and groups making a positive impact on our coastal environment.
Who are The Beach House’s Ambassadors?
We have selected three Ambassadors in order to support the health of our ocean, our coastline’s vegetation and our wildlife. They are;

Why is there a No Plastic Policy at The Beach House?
We have adopted a No Plastic Policy as we believe it is vital that businesses set an example by adopting policies that ensure care is taken to protect the health of our environment. We recognise the mass destruction plastic products are causing and we want to protect our coastal ecosystems and encourage all individuals to do the same. We also selectively use environmentally friendly cleaning and amenities products.
Is there a pool at the venue?
The Beach House does not have a pool, however, it has a private beach trail leading to both Angels and Shelly beaches below.
Are Schoolies groups accepted?
No, The Beach House does not accept schoolies bookings.
